Surviving crew members of Tu-22M3 that crashed near Irkutsk diagnosed with fractures
Three surviving crew members of the Tu-22M3 aircraft that crashed in the Irkutsk region were diagnosed with fractures, the Shot Telegram channel reports.
According to the channel, the pilots are in the regional hospital, their condition is assessed as moderate. According to the information, doctors diagnosed one pilot with a traumatic brain injury, a concussion, and a fractured tailbone, the second was diagnosed with a fractured sternum, and the third pilot with a fractured leg.
Earlier, the head of the region Igor Kobzev reported the death of one of the Tu-22M3 pilots.
The crash of the bomber in the Irkutsk region became known the previous evening. According to preliminary data, the cause of the plane crash was a technical malfunction. The pilots took the plane away from residential buildings and ejected.
Judging by the video footage that has been released, the bomber caught fire while still in the air. Eyewitnesses captured powerful explosions at the crash site.
