UFA, August 15 In the Orenburg region, five empty cars of a freight train derailed due to the poor condition of the track, the Investigative Committee for Transport reported.

«According to preliminary information, on the evening of August 15, 2024, five empty cars of a freight train derailed at the Menovoy Dvor railway station of the South Ural Railway. There were no casualties or train delays as a result of the incident, and restoration work is underway,» the department clarified.
< br />The Central Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia has launched a preliminary investigation into the derailment of five freight cars. The actions of the responsible railway officials are being investigated under a criminal article on violation of traffic safety rules and operation of railway transport, which resulted in major damage.
«Investigative Committee investigators for transport are establishing all the circumstances of the incident. Based on the results of the investigation, a procedural decision will be made. The investigators are considering versions of the improper technical condition of the railway track or the running gear of the train as the reasons for the derailment,» the department noted.
Eyewitnesses are posting videos from the scene of the incident on social networks. The footage shows that part of the building at the site of the derailment was destroyed.
