Former Armenian MP Arsenyan appointed ambassador to Russia

YEREVAN, Aug. 15 Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan has appointed former member of the Armenian parliament from the ruling Civil Contract faction Gurgen Arsenyan as Armenia's ambassador to the Russian Federation, the presidential press service reported.
«To appoint Gurgen Arsenyan as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation (residence in Moscow),» the presidential decree, published on his website, reads.
In early August, Arsenyan resigned from his parliamentary mandate. In mid-July, he said he hoped to smooth out the rough edges in relations between Armenia and Russia and change the algorithm of relations and rhetoric.

The current Ambassador of Armenia to the Russian Federation Vagharshak Harutyunyan was appointed to this post in January 2022.
