Scientists from two research centers in Novosibirsk have created a unique drug, MK in Novosibirsk reports. with reference to the university press service.
Scientists from the Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University (NSPU) and the Federal Research Center for Fundamental and Translational Medicine (FRC FTM) have developed an antioxidant that improves chemotherapy for oncological diseases.
Such drugs are needed to kill tumor cells. But damaged and healthy cells have small differences. Therefore, toxic drugs also negatively affect healthy cells in the body.
«The water-soluble antioxidant TS-13 obtained by Novosibirsk specialists effectively mitigates undesirable general toxic and cardiotoxic manifestations of antitumor anthracycline therapy,» the press service said in a statement.
After successful laboratory tests, the scientists will soon begin preclinical tests.
