MOSCOW, August 15 Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Dmitry Milyaev, Acting Governor of the Tula Region.
He took over the region in May. Putin appointed him acting governor after the previous head of the region, Alexey Dyumin, became an aide to the president.
Milyaev will run in the September elections for the governor of the Tula Region; his candidacy was nominated by the United Russia party. In total, five registered candidates are vying for the post of head of the region. In addition to Milyaev, these are Aleksandr Balberov (LDPR), Sergei Grebenshchikov (A Just Russia — Patriots — For Truth), Denis Ilyukhin (Communist Party Communists of Russia) and Aleksei Lebedev (CPRF).
Early elections for the governor of the Tula region will be held on September 6, 7 and 8, 2024.
