Russia's Investments in US Treasuries Fall to $44 Million

MOSCOW, August 16 Russia reduced its portfolio of US government bonds to $44 million in June from $45 million in May, according to data from the US Treasury Department.
According to statistics published by the Ministry of Finance for June, the Russian portfolio consists of 42 million dollars in long-term securities and 2 million in short-term securities (42 million dollars in long-term and 3 million dollars in short-term in May).

Japan remains the largest holder of US debt, with its holdings falling to $1.118 trillion in the month from $1.128 trillion in May. China is in second place with $780.2 billion (from $768.3 billion in May). Third place is still held by the UK, which increased the amount of bonds on its balance sheet to $741.5 billion from $723.4 billion.
