MOSCOW, August 15 Gagauzia is working on the possibility of purchasing Russian gas at a discount, said the head of the region, Eugenia Gutsul.
«We are working on this. I cannot say when this will happen, because it is indeed a difficult path and a complex mechanism… We are working on this directly with Gazprom employees,» Gutsul told journalists.
She added that various options for such discounts are being discussed — both from a legal and technical point of view.
Gagauzia, located in the south of Moldova, traditionally supports rapprochement with Russia, while Chisinau is focused on European integration.
