MOSCOW, August 15 The Soyuz-2.1a rocket, launched on Thursday from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, launched the Progress MS-28 cargo ship into orbit, which will go to the International Space Station (ISS), the launch is broadcast by Roscosmos.
«There is a shutdown of the third stage engine. There is a compartment of the Progress MS-28 transport cargo ship. The Progress MS-28 transport cargo ship has been launched into orbit of an artificial Earth satellite,» the launch commentator announced.
The separation of the ship from the third stage of the rocket occurred 8 minutes 49 seconds after launch.
The spacecraft will fly according to the traditional two-day schedule and dock with the Zvezda module of the Russian segment of the ISS at 8.56 Moscow time on August 17. The duration of the Progress MS-28 flight is expected to be 179 days.
The ship will deliver more than 2.6 tons of cargo to the station, including 1.2 tons of dry cargo for the station systems and the ISS crew. As Roscosmos clarified, equipment for the Aseptic, Biodegradation, Virtual, Endurance, Lasma, All Sky Monitor, Neuroimmunity, and Photobioreactor experiments will go into orbit.
In addition, on board Progress there are 950 kilograms of fuel for refueling the station, 420 kilograms of drinking water and 50 kilograms of nitrogen to replenish the ISS atmosphere.
