There is no threat to environmental safety at the site of the train derailment in Orenburg

UFA, August 15 There is no threat to environmental safety at the site of the freight train derailment in Orenburg, the South Ural Railway branch of Russian Railways reported on its official Telegram channel.
Earlier, the Central Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported on the incident. Investigators are checking the actions of responsible officials of the railway under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «violation of traffic safety rules and operation of railway transport, resulting in major damage.» The department noted that the investigators are considering versions about the improper technical condition of the railway track or the running gear of the train as the reasons for the derailment of the cars.

The Ural prosecutor's office for transport reported that as a result of the incident, a two-story building at the Menovoy Dvor station in Orenburg was partially destroyed.
«At the Menovaya Dvor station of the South Ural Railway, six empty freight cars derailed. A recovery train from the Orenburg station was sent to the scene. The causes of the derailment are being determined. There are no casualties. There is no threat to environmental safety. The incident did not affect the movement of other trains,» the South Ural Railway said in a statement.
The Orenburg Region government also noted that there is no threat to the population or the environment.

«This situation did not affect the movement of trains, since the train is on a dead-end track. Emergency services are working at the scene. The cause of the incident is being established,» the regional government reported on its Telegram channel.
