Alikhanov proposed BRICS to jointly produce gas turbine units

NIZHNY NOVGOROD, August 16 Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov proposed discussing partnership in power engineering with BRICS member countries, in particular, joint production of gas turbine units for fuel and energy complex, he said.
«I also propose discussing partnership in power engineering in general, and engine building in particular. We could talk about joint production of gas turbine units for the fuel and energy complex of our countries. The same applies to cooperation in engines for marine, railway, aviation and space technology,» Alikhanov said, speaking at the Eighth Meeting of BRICS Industry Ministers.
«The development of these technologies can become a driver for a number of related industries and the development of new competencies in our countries. Here we see very good prospects given our existing experience and developments, as well as the expanding capacious market in the BRICS space,» he added.

The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade also proposed establishing a systemic dialogue with the BRICS countries in the area of supporting industrial development. According to him, this could include regular online meetings, during which participants will share their experience in facilitating the implementation of industrial and scientific projects, help companies find technology partners and develop new markets together.

BRICS is an intergovernmental association of Brazil, the Russian Federation, India, China, the Republic of South Africa (since December 2010), and Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia, which joined them on January 1.
