SCMP: China proposes to create a magnetic installation for delivering resources from the Moon to Earth
Chinese scientists have developed and intend to create magnetic installation that will allow launching cargo from the Moon, the Hong Kong newspaper South China Morning Post reports.
The publication says that the installation could become an economical way to deliver resources mined on the Moon to Earth, and also, possibly, part of the Russian-Chinese lunar station project, RIA Novosti reports.
The principle of operation of the magnetic installation is to spin the capsule with the cargo and then launch it. Scientists compare this to throwing a hammer.
The article says that the proposed launch system will work for 20 years, it does not need fuel, and should be easy to implement.
However, before it can be delivered to the Moon, it will be necessary to wait for the start of work of the Chinese super-heavy launch vehicle, because the system will weigh about 80 tons, the publication reports.
