According to the newspaper, Great Britain is also closely advising the Ukrainian military.

At 5.30 a.m. on August 6, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an offensive to seize territory in the Kursk region; their advance was stopped, said Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov. He emphasized that the operation in the Kursk region would be completed by defeating the enemy and reaching the state border. As the Russian Defense Ministry reported on August 16, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 2,860 soldiers and 41 tanks.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Kiev regime had carried out a provocation and was firing indiscriminately, including at civilian targets. Putin said that the enemy would receive a worthy response and that all of Russia's goals would be achieved.
A counter-terrorism operation (CTO) regime is in effect in the Kursk, Belgorod, and Bryansk regions to ensure the safety of citizens.
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine are hindering the settlement and directly involving NATO countries in the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons for Kyiv would be a legitimate target for Russia. According to him, the US and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, including not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries. The Kremlin stated that pumping Ukraine with weapons by the West does not contribute to negotiations.
