MOSCOW, August 18 A Moscow resident has been sentenced to two years in a general regime penal colony for stealing pedigree dogs that were waiting outside supermarkets for their owners who had gone shopping, law enforcement agencies reported.
According to available information, the woman first stole an American Staffordshire Terrier by untying it from a handrail at a supermarket. The damage was estimated at 57,039 rubles.
It is noted that 11 days later, the same citizen stole a dog tied to a bicycle rack near another supermarket, a «Mixed Welsh Corgi and English Spaniel» breed. The damage was estimated at a more modest amount — 8,273 rubles.
As law enforcement agencies reported, the court took into account the chronic illnesses of the accused, her sincere confession. In addition, it was found out that she suffers from alcohol addiction.
For all the crimes, the woman was given a final sentence of 2 years' imprisonment in a general regime penal colony.
