PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, August 17 A series of aftershocks were recorded in Kamchatka after a strong earthquake, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for Kamchatka Krai reports.
«A series of aftershocks with a magnitude of 3.9 to 5.0 is recorded after a felt seismic event in the Pacific Ocean. Most of them are unfelt,» the report says.
Emergency Ministry specialists are inspecting buildings and structures for cracks and damage.
A strong earthquake occurred at about 7:00 local time. The magnitude of the seismic event was 7.0. The epicenter was 108 kilometers southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. In some areas of the region, tremors of up to 7 points were felt.
