MOSCOW, August 17 The United States has restricted the Ukrainian Armed Forces in using their weapons in the Kursk region because it fears a direct conflict with Russia, Reuters reports.
“According to one American official, if Ukraine starts taking control of Russian villages and other non-military targets using American weapons and equipment, this could be seen as going beyond the limits set by the United States in order to avoid any hint of a direct conflict between NATO and Russia,” the article says.
On Saturday, the Times newspaper, citing a source in the British government, also reported that Britain does not allow Ukraine to strike Russia with Storm Shadow cruise missiles because of the position Washington.
The day before, Russian presidential aide Nikolai Patrushev said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on the Kursk region was planned with the participation of NATO and Western intelligence services; without their participation and direct support, Kyiv would not have risked entering Russian territory. He added that «it was the West that put the criminal junta at the head of Ukraine, NATO countries pumped Kyiv with weapons, military instructors, and constantly supplied intelligence and monitored the actions of neo-Nazis.»
