MOSCOW, August 18, Andrey Simonenko. The ashes of two-time Olympic champions in pair skating Lyudmila Belousova and Oleg Protopopov are planned to be buried on September 11 in St. Petersburg, the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) confirmed.
Protopopov died on October 31 last year in Switzerland at the age of 91, his body was cremated. The figure skater's wife Lyudmila Belousova died in September 2017, she was 81 years old. After the death of the figure skater, Protopopov kept his wife's ashes at home. It was reported that the two-time Olympic champion bequeathed that he and his wife be buried at the Volkovskoye Cemetery in St. Petersburg.
