MOSCOW, August 19 The first ever official basketball game with 4-point shots was held in the Philippines.
In the opening game of the Governor's Cup, which took place on Sunday in Manila, the Meralco Bolts basketball players beat the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots with a score of 99:94 (16:12, 27:27, 31:24, 25:31). In the second quarter, American guard Chris Banchero of the Meralco Bolts made the first 4-point shot in official games.
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has announced that it will implement the 4-point shot in July 2024. To earn four points, a basketball player must score a basket from behind the line 8.23 meters from the hoop.
