MOSCOW, August 18< /strong>Transport for the possible evacuation of residents of the village of Bai-Khaake in Tuva is kept on standby due to smoke from forest fires, said the head of the republic, Vladislav Khovalyg.
According to him, first of all, if necessary, those residents whose health does not allow them to be in such conditions will be evacuated. In this regard, Khovalyg called on doctors to pay close attention to requests from the population. He also instructed Rospotrebnadzor to conduct air sampling in Bay-Khaak.
According to the head of the region, one forest fire was extinguished in Tuva over the past 24 hours, and three more are at the localization stage. A total of 32 forest fires have been registered in the region. Almost 500 people are involved in the fight against the disaster, volunteer fire brigades are actively working, he specified.
Currently, the village is being plowed, as the source of the forest fire has begun to spread in its direction, Khovalyg said. Firefighters are preparing to meet the fire.
He explained that the fire is being fought in difficult weather conditions, but weather forecasters promise precipitation during the coming night. If the rains do not change the situation, then an amphibious aircraft will be brought in, which has the ability to dump significant volumes of water on the outbreak, Khovalyg has already discussed this with the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
