Members of the Vienna Joint Commission on the Implementation of the JCPOA actions of the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan have resumed in Vienna, said Russia's Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov. «After a short New Year break, the eighth round of Vienna talks resumes today in the format of informal meetings,» Ulyanov wrote on Twitter. 
Polyansky expressed hope for the resumption of the JCPOA. The eighth round of the Vienna talks is currently underway, it began on December 27, there was a short pause for the New Year holidays. Negotiations are traditionally held in the Vienna hotel «Coburg.» France and Iran signed a nuclear deal — the JCPOA, which involved lifting sanctions in exchange for limiting Iran's nuclear program. In May 2018, then-US President Donald Trump withdrew from the JCPOA and reinstated sanctions against Tehran. In response, Iran announced a phased reduction in its obligations under the agreement, abandoning restrictions on nuclear research, centrifuges and uranium enrichment levels.
