Forward Evgeniy Ketov set an SKA record by playing 507 games for the St. Petersburg club. Marat Khusnutdinov (in the 16th minute), Mikhail Vorobyov (56) scored goals as part of the winners. Dmitry Kolgotin (58) scored against Sochi. SKA became the fourth team to secure a place in the playoff ahead of schedule, following Traktor Chelyabinsk, Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Ak Bars Kazan.
