The Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow refused to release the former deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service Oleg Korshunov from the pre-trial detention center, despite his illness. Mediazone was told about this by the press service of the court.
Earlier, the commission of the Federal Penitentiary Service came to the same opinion.
Kommersant reported that Korshunov had an autoimmune disease — myasthenia gravis. The commission of the Federal Penitentiary Service decided that “the disease is at a stage that is not very dangerous for the patient’s life” and he can serve his sentence in a colony or be in a pre-trial detention center.
At the same time, myasthenia gravis is included in the list of diseases that prevent detention .
In 2019, Korshunov was sentenced to 7 years in prison in the case of fraud in public procurement of shoes. Then he received another 9 years in prison on charges of embezzlement during state purchases of sugar and fuel.
Kommersant noted that after two sentences, the former deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service should have been transferred to the Kaliningrad region, but he remained in Lefortovo to get acquainted with the materials of the third criminal case — the investigation accuses him of fraud during the construction of a pre-trial detention center in Simferopol. Korshunov maintains his innocence.
