
MOSCOW, Jan 26 The English Premier League has tightened the rules for postponing matches against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the official website of the league.According to the innovations, the clubs of the championship of England can apply for the postponement of the match if the team has at least four confirmed cases of COVID-19. Club applications will be considered on an individual basis. The rules will come into effect ahead of Burnley's next Premier League match against Watford on February 5. According to Sky Sports, the change is due to a series of controversial decision to cancel matches, when clubs summed up coronavirus-infected, injured, suspended players to reschedule games, as well as international players. From 17 to 23 January, 16 new cases of COVID-19 infection were registered in the Premier League. This season, 22 Premier League matches have been postponed due to the coronavirus and other factors. The latest match to be canceled so far was the meeting between Arsenal and Tottenham on January 16, which drew criticism from Spurs management.
