
MOSCOW, Jan 28 National Hockey League (NHL) Pittsburgh Penguins Club «began negotiations to extend contracts with two team leaders — striker Evgeni Malkin and defender Chris Letang, TSN reports. The Russian and Canadian will expire this summer with the current agreements with the club, as a result of which they can become unrestricted free agents. According to TSN insider Darren Draeger, discussions are still preliminary, although in both cases the players and the team are interested in extending the agreements. Both hockey players spent their entire careers in Pittsburgh, winning three Stanley Cups. Malkin, 35, is in his 16th season in the NHL. He has four goals and 10 points in nine games this season, recovering from off-season surgery. In total, the second overall pick in the 2004 draft, Malkin, scored 428 goals and scored 1,114 points in 949 games throughout his league career.
