Kommersant: Sberbank conducted exercises in case of disconnection from foreign IT infrastructure

Sberbank held technological exercises to disconnect from foreign IT infrastructure due to potential US sanctions. This was reported by Kommersant, citing sources in the government and in the computer market.

The bank tested disconnection from software and electronics companies such as Microsoft, Nvidia, VMware, SAP, Oracle and Intel. At the same time, IT companies, as well as Sberbank and other large Russian banks, refused to comment on the information. SAP said they didn't know about the exercise, while Nvidia said «business is out of politics.»

Experts interviewed by Kommersant believe that businesses should prepare for the need to switch to products from Russian electronics and software manufacturers.

«In connection with the aggravation of the foreign policy situation, we are no longer just talking about the need for import substitution, but about how much time remains for this,»

— said the executive director of the ARPP «Domestic soft» Renat Lashin.

Irina Zinovkina, Consulting Director of InfoWatch Group, noted that the transfer of data from imported systems to domestic ones will take time and businesses should prepare for this. «For organizations that have not yet begun to replace foreign solutions, the abrupt transition will be problematic,» she said. width: 100%; height: auto; border: 0px; vertical-align: middle; max-width: 700px;» />
