Ryanair, the largest low-cost airline in Europe, has the cost of transporting each passenger 10 times higher than the advertising rate of 5 euros, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
Such data from the airline's financial report for last quarter of 2021.
During this period Ryanair spent an average of 51 euros per customer. Fuel was the largest cost item in the cost of 19 euros.
The low-cost airline paid 8 euros per passenger to pay various fees at airports.
Depreciation of aircraft and staff salaries amounted to another 6 euros for each cost item.
Against the background of such expenses, the average Ryanair's revenue per passenger was €47. The airline received 25 euros from ticket sales. The air carrier's customers spent another 22 euros on additional services. These include baggage allowance, extra carry-on baggage and seat selection.
Such data show that during the reporting period Ryanair did not cover its flight costs and lost 4 euros per passenger.
For comparison, Wizz Air at the end of 2021 the cost of delivery for each customer was 80 euros. At the same time, the airline earned an average of 52 euros from passengers: 21 euros was brought to it by ticket sales, 31 euros — implementation of additional services. Operating losses of Wizz Air from the transportation of each client amounted to 28 euros.
