At the same time, on the afternoon of February 2, Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that nothing was known about such a meeting. “I don't know about it. There are no plans,” he said in response to a question about a possible conversation between Kadyrov and Putin.
According to the Dozhd TV channel *, the photo from the “meeting”, published by Kadyrov’s press service, turned out to be old — on it is dated 2017 on the Kremlin website.
As the press service of the government of the Chechen Republic reported, Kadyrov and Putin discussed socio-economic issues: the implementation of investment projects in the Chechen Republic (34 billion rubles have been disbursed, another 121 billion are to be disbursed), the achievement of indicators for combating coronavirus, the demographic situation and national projects.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of a scandal involving the kidnapping of Zarema Musayeva from Nizhny Novgorod and detention in a pre-trial detention center in Chechnya, the wife of federal judge Saidi Yangulbaev and the mother of critics Kadyrov Ibragim and Abubakar Yangulbaev.

On the eve of the State Duma deputy from Chechnya, Adam Delimkhanov, during a live broadcast on Instagram in the Chechen language, he promised to cut off the heads of members of the Yangulbaev family, and Ramzan Kadyrov called Novaya Gazeta journalist Elena Milashina “accomplices of terrorists” , the founder of the «Committee against Torture» and a member of the Human Rights Council Igor Kalyapin, as well as the Dozhd TV channel. Threats were also made by high-ranking Chechen security forces and officials. All these threats were related to the coverage of the situation around Musayeva's abduction.
