Russia and China made a statement.
Russian and Chinese leaders Vladimir Putin and Xi The Jinping issued a joint statement following the Beijing meeting. They, in particular, accused NATO of «stuffing the confrontation» and stood for the non-expansion of the Alliance, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
Reproaches of NATO
Russia and China opposed the actions of external forces to allegedly «undermine security and stability in joint adjacent regions».
They accused the NATO countries of intending to resist interference in the internal affairs of sovereign countries that «oppose «color revolutions» and will increase cooperation in the aforementioned areas».
The parties stated that individual states, military-political alliances or coalitions aim to «obtain, directly or indirectly, unilateral military advantages to the detriment of the security of others», allegedly by means of unfair competition.
They accused the NATO countries in «inflating antagonism and confrontation», which allegedly seriously undermines the order in the field of international and global strategic stability.
«The parties oppose the further expansion of NATO, call on the North Atlantic Alliance to abandon the ideological approaches of the Cold War, respect the sovereignty, security and interests of other countries, the diversity of their civilizational and cultural and historical ways, objectively and fairly treat the peaceful development of other states&# 187;, — said in a statement.
«Security Guarantees»
At the same time, China acted «with understanding» and supported the proposals put forward by the Russian Federation on the formation of long-term legally binding «security guarantees» in Europe.
Moscow and Beijing said that «attempts to draw ideologically based dividing lines and create situational alliances» do not meet the principles of democracy.
«The parties note that democratic principles are implemented not only in internal governance, but also at the global level. The attempts of individual states to impose their «democratic standards» on other countries, to assign a monopoly right to assess the level of compliance with the criteria of democracy, to draw dividing lines along ideological grounds, including through the creation of narrow-format blocs and situational alliances, is in fact an example trampling on democracy and retreat from its spirit and true values»,— said in a joint statement.
According to Moscow and Beijing, «such attempts to act as a hegemon pose a serious threat to global and regional peace and stability, undermine the stability of the world order».
