Beijing, Feb 9, Sergey Fuks. Head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov supported the head coach of the cross-country skiing team Elena Vyalbe after her words about Norwegian journalists. On Wednesday, Vyalbe announced a boycott of the Norwegian media after the publication of the NRK publication about Russian skiers at the Beijing Olympics. Earlier, journalist Jan Petter Saltvedt wrote in an article for NRK that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) should not have allowed Alexander Bolshunov and other Russian athletes to the Olympics.
"Elena Valerievna always reacts emotionally when they try to offend her athletes. In fact, I always support her in this, because she always sincerely cheers for her guys, for her athletes. I really like it, she shows that she is a coach with a capital letter", Pozdnyakov told reporters.
At the Games in Beijing, Russian skiers won four medals. Bolshunov became the owner of the gold award, Denis Spitsov and Natalia Nepryaeva — silver, and Alexander Terentiev — bronze.
