According to the publication, the delay of the awards ceremony was due with the result of a doping test that Valieva passed before the Olympics in Beijing. The International Skating Union (ISU) said the ceremony was delayed due to a legal issue, without specifying which one.
At the same time, according to The Guardian, the drug found in the doping test of one of the Russian athletes cannot improve the results. The name of the athlete, in the doping sample of which the drug was found, the publication does not name. The source of the “Championship” claims that Valieva passed the sample in which the drug was found in December. “The doping test of Valieva showed the presence of a prohibited substance in a microdose. At the same time, it has been proven that this substance does not affect the improvement of sports performance, ”said the source of the publication.
Later, RBC interlocutors reported that trimetazidine was found in Valieva’s sample. This drug is used to treat cardiac problems.
Valiyeva is currently 15 years old. Inside The Games explains that she falls into the «protected person» category. In the event of an anti-doping rule violation by an athlete who has not reached the age of 16, the details of the incident are not officially disclosed. For the same reason, the athlete’s punishment may be mitigated, but the role of his entourage in what happened may become the object of close attention.
