Zelensky gave such an instruction against the backdrop of a complication of the geopolitical situation. US presidential aide Jake Sullivan said that Russia could launch an operation in Ukraine during the Winter Olympics, which is currently underway in Beijing and will last until February 20. At the same time, according to him, the United States does not have confidence that the Russian Federation has made a decision on this issue.
Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said last week that Russia has no plans to attack Ukraine. “Russia is not going to attack anyone, it is unprofitable, it does not meet our interests. Building some illusory projects of Russian aggression is nonsense,” he said at the time.
