British basketball players will not come to Minsk because of the threat of hostilities

MOSCOW, February 21 The British men's national basketball team refused to go to Belarus for the Cup qualifying match world 2023 due to the threat of hostilities in the region, according to the website of the British Basketball Federation (BBF). The meeting between the national teams of Belarus and Great Britain is scheduled for February 25. An emergency meeting of the Board of the British Basketball Federation took place on Saturday evening. After consultations with the coaching staff and players, it was decided that the team should not travel to Minsk. «We are awaiting word from the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and hope to be able to play elsewhere or on another day,» the statement said. After two rounds of the qualifying stage in Group B, the teams of Belarus, Great Britain, Greece and Turkey have one victory each.
