Figure skaters were awarded awards for winning the team tournament

To Russian figure skaters Victoria Sinitsina, Nikita Katsalapov, Anastasia Mishina, Alexander Gallyamov, Mark Kondratyuk and Kamila Valieva at the ceremony honoring the Russian Olympians were awarded the Champions of Our Hearts awards for winning the team tournament, a correspondent reports from the scene. The Russian team consisting of Sinitsina/Katsalapov, Mishina/Gallyamov, Kondratyuk and Valieva won the team tournament. Later it became known that Valieva's doping test, taken at the end of December, gave a positive result. The Court of Arbitration for Sport allowed the skater to participate in the individual Olympic tournament in Beijing. The award ceremony for the winners of the team competition was not held. Awards in the form of a gold necklace engraved with «Champions of Our Hearts» were presented to the athletes by actress Yulia Peresild, Olympic champion Tatyana Navka, four-time Olympic champion Alexei Nemov and State Duma deputy Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova. The Olympics were held in Beijing February 4-20. The Russian team won 32 medals (six gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze) and placed ninth in the unofficial medal standings. In terms of the total number of awards, the Russians came second and showed the best result in the history of performances at the Winter Games.
