
MOSCOW, March 8 German Alexander Zverev received an eight-week suspension and a fine in the amount of 25 thousand dollars for inappropriate behavior at a tournament in Mexican Acapulco, according to the website of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). On February 23, Zverev was removed from the tournament in Acapulco. German and Brazilian Marcelo Melo lost to Briton Lloyd Glasspool and Finn Harry Heliovaare. At the end of the meeting, Zverev approached the chief referee's tower and struck several blows with a racket on it. Both penalties were suspended on probation until February 22, 2023. They will come into force in case of unsportsmanlike behavior (disrespectful or aggressive actions), verbal abuse or physical contact with tournament officials. The German can appeal this decision until March 11th.
