Such speed is unparalleled in world military history.
Advisor Oleksiy Arestovich, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, named three main reasons why Russia so quickly entered into negotiations with Ukraine to end the war, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to Glavred.
Arestovich recalled that Russia and Ukraine was initiated by the Russian side already on the second day after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. According to the adviser to the head of the OP, such a speed has no analogues in world military history. He named the possible reasons for Russia's actions:
- Everything did not go as expected.
- The Russian Federation immediately realized that the reaction of the West — not the one that was counted on, and one must pose as people who are ready to end the war.
- The negotiations were proposed to simulate the process.
«Because «calibers» people who came there (for negotiations, — ed.) show the frivolity of the attitude towards the negotiation process on the part of the Russian Federation. We have the composition of the delegation: the head of the parliamentary majority, the Minister of Defense, an adviser to the head of the President's Office. And they have — «something» such a «medina», — Arestovich noted.
According to him, Russia's demands are decreasing from round to round of negotiations.
«The first time they offered to negotiate — it was on the second day of the war, and here we were waiting for the landing on Pechersk, the president was offered to evacuate, but he refused — Russia offered negotiations on the condition of Ukraine's unconditional surrender. The President then laughed because it was very funny. It was the second day of the war», — said Arestovich.
«Now they are gradually lowering the bar, judging by their official comments. Denazification has gone somewhere. And this was the main stated requirement and the primary declared goal of the war, declared by the top leadership of the Russian Federation. Demilitarization? If you look at Russian losses, the question here is who is demilitarizing whom. As long as we do it to the full», — added Arestovich.
The adviser to the head of the Presidential Office ironically suggested that in ten days the plank of the Russian Federation at the negotiations would look something like this: « Well, at least at the official level, do not use the well-known chant of Kharkov football fans. This will be the only demand they will leave».
Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine
The first negotiations between Ukraine and Russia after the start of the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on our territories took place on February 28. Then, following the results of the negotiations, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the President of the Presidential Chamber, said that the delegations had established priority topics, on which they had outlined a number of decisions. They went to their capitals for consultations. Podolyak also noted then that the negotiations were difficult, but Russia did not put forward ultimatums.
On March 3, the second round of negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations took place. Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak spoke about the results of the second round of Ukrainian-Russian negotiations. According to him, so far it has not been possible to obtain the results that were expected.
On the evening of March 7, the third round of talks between Russia and Ukraine ended. According to a member of the Ukrainian delegation and adviser to the head of the President's Office, Mykhailo Podolyak, there is little progress in the negotiation process to improve the logistics of humanitarian corridors. On the basic political block of the settlement, along with a ceasefire and security guarantees, intensive consultations have continued.
