File photoROME, Mar 19 Numerous demonstrations of protest against the supply of weapons to Ukraine in accordance with NATO decisions took place in the center of Sofia on Saturday, the popular Bulgarian radio station Horizont reported. In the morning, demonstrators with posters and banners «Yankees, go home», «No sanctions against Russia», as well as with the flags of Bulgaria, Russia and party banners, gathered near the building of the Ministry of Defense. The protesters chanted «NATO out», «Bulgarian heroes» and «Russia». After that, the demonstrators moved to the building of the Council of Ministers of Bulgaria, where the rally continued. The protesters demanded to stop the supply of any weapons to Ukraine, emphasizing that Bulgaria should in no case be involved in this conflict. The leader of the Renaissance, Kostadin Kostadinov, during the demonstration declared: «We do not want Bulgaria to be drawn into the war. We are ready to fight, to die for Bulgaria, but not for a foreign country. We will not allow foreign countries to control our destinies.» The famous politician also announced that his party would not allow a few the weapons at the disposal of Bulgaria were sent to Ukraine and will not allow the country to be drawn into a conflict with Russia. The demonstration ended with the performance of patriotic songs and the national anthem of Bulgaria. Reinforced police units were pulled into the protest area.
