MOSCOW, 20 Mar. Venezuela's Yulimar Rojas set a new world record in the triple jump and won gold at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade.
Rojas's result is 15.74 meters. She broke her own world record set at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (15.67). The second place was taken by Ukraine's Marina Bekh-Romanchuk (14.74), the third — Jamaican athlete Kimberly Williams (14.62).
Ethiopian runner Selemon Barega won gold in the 3000 meters. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion ran the distance in 7 minutes 41.38 seconds. The second place was taken by another representative of Ethiopia, Lameha Girma (+0.25), the third — Briton Mark Scott (+0.64). m), the second was the Swiss Loic Gash (2.31), the third — the Italian Olympic champion Gianmarco Tamberi (2.31). The World Athletics Association (World Athletics) banned Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in the tournament due to the situation in Ukraine.
