A sign on the building of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in KyivMOSCOW, Mar 24 the Desna River, which connected Chernigov with the road to Kyiv, was blown up by order of the city authorities, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the Russian National Defense Control Center, said on Thursday. «In Chernigov, by order of the city head and the head of the regional military administration, in order to suppress any the local population to leave the city, an automobile bridge across the Desna River in the Kiev direction was blown up,» he said. According to Mizintsev, in the same city, an initiative group of local residents, due to the difficult humanitarian situation, asked the administration to leave for safe areas. As a result, the activists were detained by Ukrainian troops, and several people were subsequently shot.
