Johnson wants to supply Ukraine with «more deadly» weapons, media reported

Boris JohnsonLONDON, Mar 30 The Times, citing sources, says the British prime minister Minister Boris Johnson told the Cabinet that he wants to supply Ukraine with «more deadly» weapons. According to the publication, Johnson did not specify what kind of weapons London could supply to Kiev. A source in defense circles told the newspaper that Ukraine needed «long-range firepower,» including heavy artillery. Such weapons would require additional training, the British government also fears an escalation, the newspaper writes. The publication calls the AS-90 Vickers self-propelled artillery mount, however, according to the source, these systems are already outdated. «Larger systems» would require Ukrainian servicemen to be trained in neighboring countries, the newspaper points out. The day before, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine by the West is irresponsible, and its uncontrolled distribution could pose a threat to European states. The supply of weapons by the West to Ukraine is a mistake, it increases the casualties, but will not affect the outcome of the operation, Sergei Rudskoy, head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, said earlier. » />The Independent: Playing geopolitics with Russia will cost Britain dearly
