Kyiv. File photoWASHINGTON, Apr 14The US administration is considering sending a representative to Kyiv, including Secretary of State Anthony Blinken or Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky and show support for Ukraine, Politico writes on Wednesday, citing unnamed US officials. According to these data, the final decision on this issue has not yet been accepted. Among the possible candidates for this role are still Head of State Joe Biden and US Vice President Kamala Harris, however, according to sources, the most likely scenario is that the head of the country’s diplomatic or defense department will go to Kyiv. the visit will most likely not be announced in advance for security reasons. The timing of such a trip has not yet been determined. Moreover, sources do not exclude the visit of a US administration official to Kyiv may not take place at all «due to the volatile nature» of hostilities in Ukraine. Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin called its goal «the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.» For this, according to him, it is planned to carry out «demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine», to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for «bloody crimes against civilians» in Donbass. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces strike only at the military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops and, as of March 25, they have completed the main tasks of the first stage — they have significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine. The main goal in the Russian military department was called the liberation of Donbass.
