MOSCOW, Apr 17 Russian striker of the National Hockey League (NHL) club» Minnesota Wild «Kirill Kaprizov set a new team record for the number of goals scored in one regular season. The puck thrown by the 24-year-old Kaprizov against the St. Louis Blues became his 43rd of the season. The previous record was held by Marian Gaborik (42 goals in 77 matches in the 2007/08 season) and Erik Staal (42 goals in 82 matches in the 2017/18 season). It took Kaprizov 72 games to establish the achievement. Minnesota selected Kaprizov in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, 135th overall. In the summer of 2020, the forward signed a two-year rookie contract with the Wild. In June 2021, he received the Calder Trophy, given to the best rookie in the NHL. In September of that year, Kaprizov signed a five-year, $45 million contract with the Wild.
