The German defense concern Rheinmetall sent an official application to the German government to approve the sale of 100 Marder-type infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine, Welt reports. It consists of Chancellor Olaf Scholz, as well as the ministers of foreign affairs, defense, justice, finance, interior, economy, economic cooperation and development. If approved, the concern is ready to sell the equipment «as soon as possible», the first delivery can be arranged «within a few weeks», follows from the company's proposal. The publication does not specify when Berlin can announce its decision. Since the BMP needs to be prepared for use, the transfer is planned to be carried out in three stages: 20 units can be delivered in six weeks, another 25 in six months and the remaining 55 in a year. In addition, it is planned to supply 1.5 million units of ammunition worth 42.6 million euros, Rheinmetall personnel will conduct training on the use of equipment. Earlier, the head of the concern, Armin Papperger, told the Handelsblatt newspaper that Rheinmetall was ready to supply Kyiv with up to 50 Leopard 1 tanks, as well as up to 60 Marder-type infantry fighting vehicles.
