File photoMOSCOW, May 4.Britain is trying to «overtake the locomotive» of the European Union in the issue of sanctions against Russian media, said Russia's envoy to the EU Vladimir Chizhov. «I think that the UK and its well-known prime minister are here strive to overtake the locomotive and be ahead of at least the European Union, in order, in their view, to set an example,» Chizhov said on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel. Earlier, the British Foreign Office reported that London was imposing sanctions against the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company and a number of other Russian media and journalists. In turn, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the sixth package of anti-Russian sanctions, which will include Sberbank and other large banks of the Russian Federation, three leading Russian TV channels, as well as new individuals. The package also provides for a phased full oil embargo.
