MOSCOW, May 5, Sergey Fuks. Head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) ) Elena Vyalbe announced that she did not intend to withdraw from the elections to the Council of the International Ski Federation (FIS). Earlier it was reported that Vyalbe would be re-elected to the FIS Council. It will consist of 21 people: the FIS President, two athletes and 18 elected members of the council, who will be selected from 23 candidates. The election of Vyalbe to the FIS Council was previously opposed by the head of the Finnish Ski Association Markku Haapasalmi, the Secretary General of the Polish Ski Association Jan Winkel and the President of the Swedish Ski Federation Karin Mattsson.
"Our delegation will go (to the elections). From us will be I, Georgy Alexandrovich Mnatsakanov, who will vote on our behalf in the elections, as well as our translator Kristina Mnatsakanova. As for me, I will go for the time being as a member of the FIS Council, I will participate in the elections and I myself am not going to act. I think that it is not necessary to mix everything and everything, this is wrong. Of course, I understand that I will have opponents who do not want to see me on the FIS Council, but there will also be those who want to see me there. Everything will be decided by the people who will vote",» Vyalbe said.
«We will participate in person. Tickets are bought, the hotel is booked, everything goes on as usual. There are problems with logistics, we fly through Istanbul, but I it seems that attending in person is better than taking part in absentia. No matter how good the Internet is, personal communication is still important,» she added.
