The leader of the Slovak parliamentary opposition and the Kurs-Social Democracy party, Robert Fico, refused to attend a speech by President Zelensky of Ukraine to the deputies of the National Council, the Bratislava newspaper Pravda writes. «I will definitely not be there,» Fico said, adding that I wouldn’t listen to someone who “lies every day.” According to the parliamentarian, what Zelensky says damages the interests of Slovakia. “Suspension of oil and gas supplies causes serious damage to national interests,” Fico recalled. Fico's party colleague Ladislav Kamenitsky, who called the event a masquerade. Boris Kollar, for his part, expressed indignation at the possible termination of the supply of Russian raw materials to Slovakia. If this happens, the head of parliament intends to seek to stop the assistance that Bratislava provides to Ukraine. After the start of a special military operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine, Western countries increased sanctions pressure on Moscow. Now the European Commission is discussing the sixth package of restrictive measures, which involves a phase-out of Russian oil imports. At the same time, some countries, including Slovakia, require exceptions for themselves. It has not yet been possible to agree on the package — approval of the sanctions requires a unanimous vote of all members of the union. Days of Victory
