MOSCOW, 19 MayThe general director of the CSKA football club Roman Babaev told reporters that the position of the clubs of the Russian Premier League (RPL) on the moratorium on relegation of teams to the Football National League (FNL) has not changed. On Thursday, a general meeting of representatives of the RPL clubs was held. Earlier, a project was presented to expand the tournament to 18 teams, and it was also proposed to introduce a moratorium on relegation to the FNL at the end of the current season. «There was a heated discussion, but they did not have time to work out the entire agenda. No decisions have been made, because any changes in the format are the prerogative of the RFU «The position of the league is also important, it has not changed. At the last general meeting there was a vote on the moratorium: ten clubs voted in favor, five voted against, one club abstained. A working commission has been formed, it is working on five different options. On May 24, the Executive Committee of the RFU will make a final decision. The clubs that voted for the moratorium believe that sports principles were violated. The position of CSKA is that we are against the moratorium,» Babaev said. Earlier, the media reported that the head of the RPL, Ashot Khachaturyants, could leave his post at the end of the current season. «Ashot Rafailovich (Khachaturyants) did not announce today that he was completing work in the RPL. Everything is as before,» he added.
