The procession was preceded by a traditional evening rally on the square. The demonstrators intend to march through the central streets of Yerevan. Earlier, opposition Vice Speaker of Parliament Ishkhan Saghatelyan announced that a nationwide rally would be held on May 28. Mass protests in Armenia demanding Pashinyan's resignation have been going on for more than a month. His opponents believe that he is trying to make new concessions to Azerbaijan on the Karabakh issue during the demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, and declare that they intend to stop his plans. Pashinyan's statements about Nagorno-Karabakh became the reason for dissatisfaction.
