MOSCOW, June 6 Two-time Olympic champion Nikita Katsalapov proposed to marry his ice dancing partner, Olympic champion Victoria Sinitsina. The couple has been performing together since 2014. Sinitsina previously skated with Ruslan Zhiganshin. Katsalapov's partner was Elena Ilyinykh, with whom they took the gold of the team competition at the Sochi Olympics.
"She said "yes"! Long dreamed about it. I prepared the ring in advance, carried it with me and waited for that very moment. I wanted everything to be as natural as possible and a little unexpected, when we both feel 100% happy and relaxed. It turned out even better. Just perfect. I am extremely happy! We are extremely happy", — Katsalapov wrote in his Telegram channel.
Sinitsina and Katsalapov became silver medalists in ice dancing at the Beijing Olympics. They also took gold in the team tournament. Previously, the skaters said they planned to heal injuries and rest. They did not rule out continuing their careers.
