MOSCOW, June 10 regarding the Ecuadorian Football Federation for falsifying the documents of the player Byron Castillo, the country's national team remains a participant in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, according to the official FIFA website. Ecuador had eight technical defeats in the World Cup qualifying tournament and excluded the team from the championship. According to the Chilean side, Byron Castillo was born in 1998 in Colombia, and his name appeared in the Ecuador database only in 2012. According to Ecuadorians, Castillo is 23 years old, he is a native of the Ecuadorian city of Playas. The Chilean federation demanded that the Ecuadorian team count technical defeats in those matches in which Castillo took part. The Ecuadorian team scored 26 points and took fourth place in the standings, which gives a direct ticket to the World Cup. Team Chile (19 points) finished seventh. However, Castillo never played in the qualifying tournament against the national teams of Peru (fifth place, 24 points) and Colombia (sixth place, 23 points), so the Chilean side expected that if the Ecuador national team was awarded technical defeats, the Chilean team would receive an additional six points, bypass Peruvians and Colombians and will receive a ticket to the tournament in Qatar. As noted, the Chilean side has the right to appeal this verdict to the Appeal Committee. In accordance with the regulations, each of the parties has 10 days to request the publication of the reasoning part of the decision.
