File photoCHISINAU, June 15 Moldovan President Maia Sandu said at a briefing on Wednesday that the country wants to get EU candidate status as soon as possible and is ready to work for it. «We would like to get candidate status to join the EU as soon as possible, but we are realists and we understand that there are processes that we must go through to join the EU. We are not looking for shortcuts, we are ready to work and want to be judged according to our merits, according to the results of our work,» Sandu said. She noted that the authorities expect to receive support at the next European Commission summit in Brussels. The President stressed that Moldova is actively working on the implementation of reforms that will make the life of citizens in the country better and strengthen democratic values. Sandu signed the application for the republic's accession to the European Union on March 3. European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Oliver Varheli on April 11 in Luxembourg handed over questionnaires to the Foreign Ministers of Georgia and Moldova to start the procedure for joining the EU. Moldova handed over the first part of the questionnaire to the EU representative on April 22, the second on May 12. Will the EU accept Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia?
