MOSCOW, June 23 Russian Hockey Federation (RHF) and Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) will consider the possibility of refusing to hold the playoffs within the framework of the West and East conferences, according to the FHR website. As an alternative, it is proposed to hold a cross series of games regardless of the geographic division of the league. «Such a decision will be an important tool to increase the level competitiveness, intensity and rating of the KHL championship in the eyes of fans and sponsors, which is fully consistent with the recommendations of the coaching council to increase the number of fundamental games that are important for both participants,» the message says. All proposals after being worked out by the joint working group will be submitted to the KHL board of directors . Also, the FHR and the KHL will create a working group that will work out options for the further development of the KHL championship over the next season.
